New York Comic Con Bound

It's that time of year again....
October is officially my new July- between New York Comic Con and Halloween I am up to my eyeballs in costume requests. While I am very happy to sew sew sew I am fortunate enough to take a few days and celebrate costumes and everything nerd-a-rific at NYCC.

These photos are teasers of some of the good stuff I've been working- if you're going to NYCC look for Booster Gold, Mr. Miracle and an all around awesome JLA group. Come say hi and get a pic!

Scarlet Spider Jacket

This is based on a new version of the Scarlet Spider that is well scarlet. Perhaps in the future I will make a garment based on the classic blue and red Scarlet Spider costume. In fact I think it's a must, because how often do you find a superhero costume that already has a sweatshirt? Weird, right?

Anyway, this design was a joy to work with. The spider detailing was very time consuming, but well worth the excellent results.

I Need a Break from this Hot Super Summer, Time to Shower with the Avengers!

One of my favorite things about superhero movies coming out is all the fun merchandise that accompanies it- especially the fabric. I found this fabric particularly awesome and couldn't bring myself to actually cut it up. So I didn't, I added some yellow side panels, gold grommets for a one-of-a-kind super-awesome shower curtain!

Tiny Clothes

1:6 Figure Custom Clothes

Awwww, teeny tiny Assassin's Creed hoodie!
Anything that can fit in the palm of my hand is automatically cute.
I tried to add all the same details and seams that I did on the full sized hoodie, which can be seen here.

Atom Eve

Happy Superbowl sports fans! Are many of my followers sports fans? I don't know, I'm not particularly into sports, but the SB is a big deal. In honor of that, here is a figure that I will be clothing later this month "Tebowing".

Also in honor of the Superbowl is one of the girly-est costumes I've ever sewn.
Atom Eve.
Girl Power!
One of the most difficult parts was just trying to decided on what pink fabrics to use. Obviously I needed two shades of pink, and spandex comes in tons of different shades of pink! Once I picked the colors and got the fabric in my hands, the costume came together smoothly.

Custom X Jacket

Oh anig- we're almost a month into the new year and no new posts??  What is the matter with you? What are you doing?
Don't worry, I've been working, knitting giant sox and new designs. Upcoming costumes include Batgirl, Robin and plenty of Guy Gardner work!

In the meantime feast your eyes on this custom X jacket.
My dyeing fabric post detailed how to dye some white sweatshirt fleece yellow, and that yellow ended up on this jacket.

Dyeing Fabric

One week until Xmas! Are you ready? I thought this week I'd give a peek into some background work I occasionally do- dyeing fabric. One of my biggest obstacles while sewing always seems to be getting the proper fabrics, or the proper color fabric that I am looking for. I especially have trouble with greens and yellows, don't ask me why. But now I've got the know-how, space and equipment to dye my own super yellow!

Before and after if you couldn't take the suspense!
I dyed 100% cotton white sweatshirt fleece.

Super Sox at Allentown Comic Con

Where is the time going?? Turkey day come and went and Xmas will be here and gone just as fast! What does that mean? It means it's time for you to order your very own Super Sox !
Last week I showcased at the Allentown Comic Con, and had a blast.

Peter "Chewbacca" Mayhew got in on the fun with his brand-new Chewsocca Super Sox!

Mr. Mayhew also found a new use for Super Sox- as Monster Sox Puppet. He has also hired me to knit him some actual wearing socks.

Some of my blog readers may recognize part of my Booster Gold costume on my dummy there, I brought it and set it up because it lights up and is fun.
I met a lot of fun people, and the Super Sox were well received!

These are fun, fancy Xmas Sox I made in the spirit of comic books, cartoons and everything else that is awesome!
The photos in this post is just a small taste of the whole collection that is on the site.
More items to be added.

?????? You can never have enough question marks????

Oh yea, these furry guys are called Monster Sox! They come in 8 different colorsI learned a thing or two working with this faux fur, but I love it so much. Now my cat has other hairballs to compete with.

We all know that superheroes have awesome costumes, but does their footwear get a lot of attention? Well it generally does from cosplayers, but here is my homage to greatness in superhero footwear.
