1 Green Separating Zipper

The Inspiration: This snazzy Kyle Rayner number. What's not to love? It has the ol' GL symbol is several places and additional detail on the sleeves. I think my favorite part is the near glowing emblem on the chest- I hope to do it justice for an old friend.

The Design: Lots of details and machine work to do. All those symbols and all those bands on the sleeve will take a while to stitch on- Also, trying to keep everything symmetrical.

I made patterns, and cut everything but the symbols and accents. The symbols and accents sometimes go through a few drafts because the "right" size can be difficult to identify. It also depends on the character, and person who will wear it.
After all the details were stitched and scrutinized, the rest of the construction is old hat. This time around I have been more playful with zipper color, this time, matching it to the jacket, trying to minimize the fact that it opens. Piping was added both at the top of the collar, and where the collar meets the body. Here's some views of the finished jacket. I'm pleased with the results, and have been informed of its awesomeness by the wearer. Photos of it on a person coming soon.

  3. Agreed. I too would like to get a Kyle Rayner jacket. I am not good at all when it comes to making costumes. Also, being a guy who does keep up with DC, I must say this is probably the only Kyle Rayner ANYTHING that looks much like the Jim Lee version of Kyle's uniform.
