How to Sew a Cowl: Video Instruction

The following is a 3 part video series on how to sew a cowl, for superhero or other purposes out of spandex.

I recommend using nylon spandex, or cotton spandex (lycra). Half a yard of fabric will be sufficient. Other tools include; pins, good shears, marking tool (to mark dart) such as chalk, or tracing paper and tracing wheel, and of course a sewing machine and thread.

The pattern is also very helpful too! If you would like a copy of the pattern you can send me a message on youtube, or send me an email with your address to anigswes @ gmail.com and I'll mail you one. Enjoy!

After a request I have added the pattern for the cowl.
Since, my scanner is just a little too small, I had to add the pattern in 2 separate pieces.
I've added a purple line through the center, that is where you can match up the pieces to make up the whole pattern. The finished measurements of the pattern are 6 1/2" across the bottom, and 12 1/2" from top to bottom.
I have used this pattern both for myself as well as for men. As long as the fabric has spandex in it, it should fit a number of people. If the neck is too tight you could add a 1/2", changing that bottom measurement from 6 1/2" to 7".
So, happy sewing!
