Latest Projects-Aprons, Cushions and Clothes- Oh My!

Well it's certainly difficult to have something cool to follow up the Monarch jacket- and I don't have anything that cool right now.
So, you'll just have to enjoy some clothes I've made for myself. I've set a goal for to slowly replace as much of my existing wardrobe with things I have made. This is not a hard and fast rule, I love to sew, so what better place to show it off than on myself- that and I have lots of fabric! I won't be making things like socks, undies or shoes (I love my shoes!). Making footwear will mostly be reserved for costuming purposes. I also doubt that I will be mastering jeans anytime soon also.

Cool twisty front top! This is made out of some lovely rayon spandex fabric that wrinkles when you look at it- so this style is good for it.

Ode to the Simpsons

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the Simpsons- Ok I love the show as a whole, but I mostly discount the weak episodes of the past ten years.
Nevertheless, I was more than thrilled when I came across Simpsons fabric. I probably had the fabric for more than a year until I figured out a good use for it.

Lil' Red Hat

It's always fun to take on commissions, and one of the latest completed was that of the "Lil' Red Hat". This is for a choir show for O'Gorman High School out in South Dakota. It seems they are very serious about their chorus shows out there, so I was glad to be able to help them out. They needed 22 red pillbox hats- and if you have read this blog before, you know that I know how to do pillboxes!

Kyle Rayner Strikes Again

Happy New Year! Before I get to Kyle, I just wanted to say it's coming up one year of this blog.  I already have a lot of fun things in the pipeline for this year- so thanks for looking, hope you enjoy!

Once I began learning about Kyle Rayner, I immediately became enamored with this version of the costume and just needed an excuse to make it.
Luckily, my pal Ryan gave me such an excuse.
Cool, no?

A Christmas Carol by Scrooge and Company

Are you sick of Christmas yet? I sure am. I am finally recovering from what I casually refer to as my Christmas Hangover. No, I didn't drink so much, but the out of state visit to a variety of family proved to be draining, along with hoping for constant weather cooperation......so here's the last I will mention about Christmas until I am provoked to next year. Here is the final picture of the cast at the last performance of A Christmas Carol, here in Poultney, Vermont. Having just had wisdom tooth extraction a day or so before the performance I couldn't quite put it together to get some photos, but luckily Michael was there to get not only this pic, but all the following videos as well.
So, get ready, the actors did a terrific job and enjoy these post-holiday videos. You can access the youtube channel here. Enjoy!

Cat Cube

A place for kitty to hide, nap, or hangout.

Materials:
1 yd of 58" or 60" wide fleece
1 3/8 yd of 1/2" thick high density foam
Serger and Sewing Machine
*If you want the outside and the lining to be two different colors, I would get an extra yard of fabric.
*Also, this is the kind of project that can cost more to make- unless you are diligent and get your foam (which can be expensive) on sale. Think Jo-Ann Fabric, they have tons of coupons, or you can catch a 50% off sale.
